Recently I was contacted by a representative of Abou Saad Shriners in Panama with a request for $7,500 to be used towards the cost to transport an eight-year-old male burned patient to the Shriners Hospital in Galveston. Immediately we sent them the Grant Request form to be filled out. This was done and returned quickly. The Grant Committee reviewed and approved the request. The Executive Committee then approved it and the money was sent as a reimbursement to Abou Saad Shriners to go against the $27,900 air ambulance charge.
The young boy with 2nd degree burns on 60% of his body was transported with his mother to Shriners Hospital – Galveston. I am certainly very happy with the quick response our team was able to turn this request around in.
